Sustainability

Creating a Sustainable Future

Luceco Group is a leading provider of electrical devices, is dedicated to achieving net zero and tackling climate change through innovative products and collaboration with experts and consumers in the electrotechnical industry.

Luceco understands the ambition and vision of its customers with a sustainable focus at the forefront, and share this goal of a collective journey towards net zero. Luceco’s commitment to net zero goes beyond product development, to business operations, and through to its culture and people.

Luceco's commitment to sustainability is clear, and their range of products and services is helping customers achieve their own sustainability goals. By offering sustainable lighting solutions, Luceco is helping businesses reduce their environmental impact and save on energy costs. With their focus on sustainability and energy efficiency, it's no wonder Luceco is a leader in the lighting industry.

Net Zero Ambitions

Luceco’s customers are increasingly coming to them with sustainability goals including net zero carbon and zero energy building targets. By conducting a lighting audit, Luceco can make recommendations for a new design of fixtures and controls that reduce energy consumption whilst improving the quality of life for the people who live and work in them.

LED lights typically produce useful light at least 15 times longer and consume up to 80% less energy than their conventional counterparts. The longer life of LEDs produces savings throughout the product life cycle. This includes savings on materials, and installation costs (as systems will run for 10 years or more) and maintenance and replacement costs. This makes them the go-to option for companies targeting net zero.

Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi)

On the 28th of October 2021, the SBTi launched the first-ever science-based Net-Zero Standard. This will combat the current inconsistencies that surround net-zero targets, and allow companies to decarbonize at the pace and scale required to align with the goals of the Paris Agreement and keep 1.5C in reach. It is a partnership between CDP, the United Nations Global Compact, World Resources Institute (WRI) and the World Wide Fund for Nature(WWF).

Our Targets

  • Luceco plc commits to reduce absolute scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions 46.2% by FY2031 from a FY2021 base year.*
  • Luceco plc also commits to reduce absolute scope 3 GHG emissions from use of sold products 27.5% within the same timeframe.

*The target boundary includes land-related emissions and removals from bioenergy feedstocks

Leading the Charge

Luceco Group, is proud to announce its collaboration with the Electrical Contractors Association’s (ECA) Leading the Charge digital series. Leading the Charge is a collection of films, podcasts, and articles, exploring the sector’s pivotal role in realising the UK’s energy security and net zero ambitions. Topics include renewables, energy storage, retrofitting, automation, and electrical safety. As well as raising awareness of these key issues, it aims to help inspire the next generation of installers coming into the electrical industry.

The venture is supported by a select group of industry experts, including Luceco Group. For Luceco, the project was a perfect alignment given Luceco’s commitment to achieving net zero and in tackling climate change. The company are making strides thanks to innovative products, and collaborations with experts and consumers in the electrotechnical industry.

"We felt the core message and timing of the Leading the Charge campaign seemed a great fit for Luceco and aligned perfectly with our own net zero ambitions and goals, so we’re delighted to be part of it and very much look forward to its success.” - Simon Shenton, Head of Luceco LED Development

The Future of LED Lighting

With over 100 years of combined lighting design experience, Luceco’s team of lighting designers use the latest design software by Relux to design their lighting solutions. As part of their recommendations, they include ‘return on investment' estimates to indicate potential return and energy savings. Lighting controls are an integral part of any installation.

These controls help the user to automate the lighting experience. They also allow for granular control over lighting levels, such as daylight dimming, which can lead to a significant reduction in energy consumption. With LED there are already significant energy cost savings and with additional lighting controls, even more efficiencies can be made.
